Cassandra de Dauphine has one an
ancient relic and pointing toward the
heavens.

He belongs to a secret order of men
and women who keep the rites and
arcane knowledge safe for future
generations.

Through the collection of ancient
manuscripts and objects they believe
they have pieced together an
accurate vision of the past.

Set before Cassandra's brother are
symbolism the skull, book and key
give us quite a few clues.

The skull is often a symbol of
impermanence.  It is
frequently compared symbolically
with the celestial skies (a
manifestation of the symbolic union
of the significance of the human
microcosm and the universal
macrocosm).

It can also embody resurrection and
rebirth.

All of this has happened before, and
it will all happen again.

What was shall be again.

A closed book is often a symbol of
secret or hidden knowledge.  Also a
book can symbolize the totality of the
universe because a book is a unity
composed of many individual pages
and markings.

The symbolic meaning of the key
frequently has to do with the fact that
it unlocks as well as locks.  The
possession of a key often means 'to
be initiated.'  Finally a key can
symbolize difficult entry to mysteries.

Surely this man's mysteries are well
kept and difficult to obtain, but he
possesses the key to understanding
these hidden mysteries.

What are these mysteries?  Perhaps
the relic he holds and the direction
he points will lead us to the cipher of
enigma.
